Chris Daw was my sales person and honestly was delightful to deal with. He was quick to respond and informed regarding all my questions. Chris also filled the role of the finance department. When I posed the question, "Would you prefer for the bank to send a check or is ACH okay?" Isaac Melgrejo Agee, responded while reclined in a chair in the sales manager office by shouting something at me. When I told him that I can't hear him from in there he met me at the door of the sales manager office and, upon repeating my question, replied "I don't know what that is." I rephrased the question as "would you prefer a check or "bank transfer" to pay for the vehicle?" Isaac, again, told me that he didn't know what I was talking about. At this point Chris Daw (the salesman and now finance department trainer) tried to explain what an ACH was to the confused and possibly scared (going by facial expression and body language) Issac. The end result was that Chevrolet of South Anchorage would prefer to be mailed a check from my bank. This may be the way business is done in Alaska but it is 2023 and I cannot rule out that the finance guy Issac has never heard of an Automated Clearinghouse payment. So again, Chris Daw was absolutely amazing because after that interaction with Issac we never heard or saw him again. When we were signing paperwork it was left to Chris (salesman/finance trainer) to sit and explain all the "truth in lending" paperwork, tag and title, and extended warranty contracts, etc.. To further expound on the multi-talented and many hat wearing abilities of Chris Daw, I would like to explain another situation that arose while trying to purchase a vehicle from Chevrolet of South Anchorage. When my spouse and I had finally decided to purchase a vehicle we contacted Chris to do a down payment. It was Sunday 28 May 2023 at 1401H/2:01pm. Chris informed me that his sales manager "Kevin McCarthy" (not speaker of the house) was NOT going to accept a down payment for the vehicle. Now, again this is Sunday afternoon on Memorial day weekend in Anchorage, Alaska. As a family man, I would rather do anything else than fill out paperwork and spend the rest of my day sitting in a dealership office, let alone on a rare holiday weekend. I would like to point out that I understand the attempt to force a deal and make a sale. Dealerships are in the business of selling cars, it's important to them. Just like my time with my family is important to me. It was Sunday and Monday was a federal holiday, the banks aren't open to give me the best interest rates. Long story short, SURPRISE my bank that I contacted on Tuesday gave me the best interest rate! It was "so important" to waste my time by not accepting a down payment that Kevin McCarthy stretched an, arguably, couple hour car buying experience into a three day process.Completely unnecessary and as a family man himself I would have expected Kevin McCarthy to take that into consideration. I'll leave these two excerpts from the Lithia Chevrolet of South Anchorage website and let you decide if my experience is in line with what they publicly say their policy is. 1) "It is our intention to make your used car buying experience easy and, above all, an enjoyable experience! We want our customers to feel as if they're part of the Chevrolet of South Anchorage family. With no-hassle car financing and experienced financing professionals to help, we go far beyond what any other ANCHORAGE used car dealership can." 2) "With many options to consider when searching for a used car in ANCHORAGE, you can feel at ease depending on our used car sales professionals at Chevrolet of South Anchorage to protect your best interests with their years of experience within the automobile industry." Chris Daw did a wonderful job and honestly, if it were not for him, I would have walked away and never returned to Chevrolet of South Anchorage ever again. Unfortunately, because of the Sales Manager, Kevin McCarthy and "finance guy" Isaac Melgrejo Agee I will not be a returning car buyer. I will not be recommending or endorsing doing business with them to any of our friends or family. If you have any questions or would like to address my concerns you may reach out to me. Chris knows who I am and how to contact me. I honestly hope that he is recognized within this organization soon because he is the only one who looks out for the best interests of this company.
